Flooring Estimator / Government Contracts Producer
Continental Flooring Company is an Arizona-based, family-owned contractor providing nationwide flooring and ceiling tile services primarily to government customers. We are looking for a sharp, competitive, technically capable person who can help turn plans, specifications, bids, and customer needs into awarded contracts and booked orders.
At its core, this is an estimating role. The ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, product requirements, and bid documents is essential. But the best person for this role is more than a calculator. This position requires someone who can think quickly, spot opportunities, ask the right questions, find creative but compliant solutions, and help us win work in a highly competitive government marketplace.
Most of our customers are public agencies, military facilities, schools, and other government-related buyers. That means the process is professional, and rules-based. Many opportunities are black and white, but winning still requires judgment, urgency, accuracy, communication, and the ability to understand where Continental can bring the best solution.
This role is well suited for someone who is analytical, technical, competitive, and opportunistic — someone who enjoys the challenge of figuring out how to win.
Responsibilities Include:
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and product requirements
- Build accurate cost estimates from plans, takeoffs, specifications, vendor pricing, labor requirements, and project conditions.
- Prepare formal bid proposals, quotes, written responses, and customer communications.
- Identify creative, compliant solutions that help Continental compete effectively and win profitable work.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, subcontractors, manufacturers, and internal team members to clarify scope, pricing, product options, and bid requirements.
- Learn how to sell within a government-focused construction and materials environment.
- Negotiate, problem-solve, and follow up on opportunities to help turn quotes and bids into booked orders.
- Track details carefully, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accurate records in company systems.
- Some travel may be required.
- This is an in-office position in Scottsdale, Arizona, not a remote role.
Qualifications include:
- Positive, self-motivated attitude a must
- Team player with a desire to win
- Personable with good closing skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proven oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Tech-savvy with ability to learn new and changing software
- No prior sales experience required
