Made in USA – Keeping it Close to Home

In an uneasy global market, “Made in the USA” is an appealing label. In conjunction with the trending theme of staying safe, becoming eco-friendly and conserving materials, some notable flooring manufacturers are keeping some (or all) of their production plants in the United States. Since 1979, Continental’s family-owned and operated company has been serving as your nation’s government flooring and ceiling specialist with multiple manufacturers that are not only keeping it green, but also keeping it in the United States.

Locating flooring products made in the USA has become a focus of many buyers. There are no tariffs to contend with, which could represent a degree of stability for the purchase. (Luxury vinyl tile made in China once protected by an exemption, is now saddled with a 25% tariff.) According to an article in Floor Covering Weekly in August of 2020, “Consumers like to know that the products are made to certain specs and those are carefully monitored in American factories.” The article further states, “in today’s COVID-19 world, tariff protections and delivery times are attracting shoppers to American-made products.” According to Consumer Reports, 80% of American shoppers say they prefer to buy goods made in the United States. More than 60% say they’d even be willing to pay 10% more for an American-made product. In addition, as we navigate the COVID-19 waters as a country, it’s important to remember that domestic flooring manufacturers offer Americans much needed jobs and help to promote economic growth.

In today’s complex economy, it can be challenging for buyers to determine which products are manufactured in the United States. To make it easy to find carpet, vinyl flooring, ceramic tile, floor mats and ceiling products which satisfy this “made in America” requirement, we have compiled the list below as a guide. Buyers who want to purchase domestic materials can find almost any flooring USA made flooring or ceiling product.
